Supply Chain Canada

ISSUE 4 2025 | PAGE 12

A pilot Supply Chain Management Training (SMT) program on the Blood Tribe in southern Alberta is demonstrating how community-based, industry-aligned education can create meaningful career pathways while strengthening local resilience. Delivered through a partnership between Supply Chain Canada, Channer Consulting & Training, and Blood Tribe Employment & Skills Training (BTEST), the accredited program equips participants with practical skills in logistics, procurement, transportation, and data analytics.

Beyond technical knowledge, the program has helped participants build confidence, professional identity, and a broader understanding of how supply chains connect to everyday life and community development. Graduates now hold nationally recognized certification, opening access to professional networks and long-term career opportunities. Early results suggest the model has the potential to be replicated in other Indigenous communities across Canada, highlighting how targeted training can support both workforce development and community self-sufficiency.

 Treaty Talk

Treaty Talk is an educational website centered around Treaty Talk – Sharing the River of Life, a 50-minute film designed as a teaching tool to deepen understanding of treaty relationships and collective responsibilities in Canada. The site offers the full film, supporting resources, discussion guides, and additional related films like Treaty Walk: A Journey for Common Ground and AWÀSISAK Our Future. It aims to build understanding, allyship, and stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through storytelling, Cree traditional teachings, and community engagement.
